Downslink Closure - March 2024

Post by squeaker »

See notice: works to repair the river bank!

I'd suggest using the Coombes Road between the South Downs Way and Shoreham toll bridge, rather than the A283

Thanks Squeaker.
Just by coincidence I rode the section from Bramber to Shoreham for the first time yesterday. I didn't notice any obvious problems with the riverbank as I was more focussed on how high the Adur had risen.

You can't really see the problem from the path. The work is for 'emergency revetment and surfacing works': revetment is what stops the bank falling into the river where it's scoured on the outside of the bend.

Just been informed by WSCC
that the closure has been delayed due to unforeseen circumstances. The works should now go-ahead next week and the closure will be put in to place. As always, the notices will be positions at a large number of locations along the Downslink.
