And the Wincanton classic last happened over 25 ago. If that had continued, I doubt the Rutland would have had the same interest, not been able to claim classic without it being a joke like some others.

Re: Stuff the Tour of Britain
The Wincanton (which became the Leeds and then the Rochester Classic), and the Rutland are aimed at different classes of riders. The Wincanton was always a top level pro race attracting World Tour riders, the Rutland has never been a top level pro race, even though it’s listed on the UCI calendar, it has only ever had lower level continental teams riding.
There’s no agreed definition of what a “Classic” race is.

Only four days while the men get six. Is British Cycling enjoying putting them back in their place, eh?rareposter wrote: ↑15 Apr 2024, 6:26pm Women's Tour is back on:

I'm hardly a Big Cheerleader for BC, but I suspect it's BC doing the best they can do in the time.mjr wrote: ↑15 Apr 2024, 9:48pmOnly four days while the men get six. Is British Cycling enjoying putting them back in their place, eh?rareposter wrote: ↑15 Apr 2024, 6:26pm Women's Tour is back on:

In the long term the 4 days against 6 isn't good enough, but sounds to be the case that it's 4 days more than might have been on the table for this year so short term at least seems not unreasonable to be thankful for anything
