Parking in Cardiff for Lon Las Cymru De

Post by gilluth »

Hello

Am doing LLC De from Cardiff for a day to complete the route, will be driving to Cardiff with the bikes. Does anyone know any cheap/close/safe parking near the start of the route?

TIA

Thanks

Loads of free on-street parking in Penarth. I suggest Queens Road, Paget Place, Paget Road areas just South of the barrage landfall. Check them out on Google Maps streetview, they're nice respectable streets. You can then enjoy riding the mile or so across the Cardiff Bay Barrage cyclepath (set your Google maps to "Bicycling" option to see the route) to the start of the Lon Las Trail.

The best place near the town centre is Cathedral road, its all free parking, usually has space and in a reasonably decent part of town. Try there first. Most of the side roads are not residential parking in Cardiff so you can generally get quite close and still park. Do not park in the NCP carparks they are a complete ripoff if you ask me, though one now has an Evans underneath it as a slight incentive.
