Road marking
Road marking
Is the meaning of this road marking obvious to everyone? I think I might be a bit slow on the uptake as it had me baffled for years, and I'm sure it wasn't in the HC when I was young.

Re: Road marking
I’ read it as a warning of a concealed junction from the left, just round the bend, but surely it should be a sign on a post, if that’s the case.
Looks like a mirror in the hedge where the turning emerges, and I wonder if this is something a resident has painted, rather than the Highway authority.

A link to the location on streetview might be helpful

Re: Road marking
Is it a private road? The central broken white line looks non-standard too, thinking about it?
Re: Road marking
Yes it's just warning of a side road to the left ahead, in place of a standard sign, and is possibly more obvious if travelling faster than a ponderous cyclist.

I think the proper sign for this is the one that always gets graffitied to be a chap having a wee.
Re: Road marking
My guess is they tried to paint SLOW got it completely wrong from the outset, sent message to the team that burns off old road markings - and its all just got forgot about.

Re: Road marking
Possibly a private drive/farm access looking at the mirror across the road?
Probably much cheaper/easier to paint a left-pointing bar than install a pole/sign?

I am NOT a cyclist. I enjoy riding a bike for utility, commuting, fitness and touring on tout terrain Rohloff, Brompton M3 and Wester Ross 354 plus a Burley Travoy trailer.

T Junction.
Loads of the markings yonks ago, but not seen any for decades.
