First observation is that mudguards don't seem to feature in their group riding video - I'd say it was rather important...
A shortcut has to be a challenge, otherwise it would just be the way. No situation is so dire that panic cannot make it worse.
There are two kinds of people in this world: those can extrapolate from incomplete data.

I'm more into my utility, school run, cycle camping riding and the like. I'm very much a solo rider. But today it seemed all the club riders crawled out of the woodwork. Round here there were some large groups out AND it was goosebump making stuff!

And crikey don't carbon frames sound weird flying down the drag?...b

Unrealistic as they know that the following car is not trying to overtake. Will all viewers of this video realise this?
Two riders side by side moving from the back to the front of a group when a car is trying to overtake is the perfect example of how not to do it.

Maybe that's true for sports riding but most of it reassures me that I'm not a cycle-sport rider because it sounds like ways to suck all the fun out of riding. http://www.cyclingfortransport.com is more my sort of tips. Anyone know other freewheeling tip sites?

For all I know those tips are completely relevant for "Sportive Riding" which appears to be the target audience. My view of BC is that it's about cycle sport rather than cycles as transport.

I wish I could persuade my employer to stop linking BC from their "cycle to work" pages, Sustrans information seems much more relevant. CTC would be better too.

+1. And it all seems to be about 'the group' - do such always ride on closed roads

Exactly. At the start it says that they are tips for riding in a group in a sportive, it does not claim that they are tips for riding in group generally.

That's one messy looking group! Looks exactly like most Sportive groups actually! :?

I don't see any skills there at all! It looks like they are doing their damndest to use all the road and there is no organised rotation in evidence - BC really should look at that again and do it properly, I for one would not want to be riding in that group! Its no wonder all the UK sportives I ride are like a battlefield if this is how coaches are teaching people.
Convention? what's that then?
