You'll Never Guess What Passed Me Today!
You'll Never Guess What Passed Me Today!
Was passed on the way home coming up to the Telford services by a neon yellow fully faired recumbamt trike!
The wheels were fully covered as well. He or she had a good pace going.
Didn't have a chance to get a picture sadly.

As in, "Did you see that mango by on that trike?"
Sorry, that was bad even by my standards. Where's the 'get my coat' smiley?

There's a chap Tattenhall,Cheshire area has one,I had a chat with him sometime back,he reckoned it was as fast as,but obviously slow climbing.
I read a road test on one, same sort of story, very quick on the flat, hang on to your Hollyhocks desceding slow climbing.
I absolutely love the shape... .....and they look nothing like a suppository

It did look a bit like that Mango thing in the link although I'm pretty sure all 3 wheels were inside the fairing.
I can imagine the downhills would be ludicrous on something like that. I seem to remember the diablo on the Lejog record attempt getting over 70. Personally I'd need a nappy at that kind of speed.
Shame I missed him/her at the lights on the previous roundabout. people who ride stuff like that usually have some interesting tales to tell.

Re: You'll Never Guess What Passed Me Today!
I saw a video on facebook recently of a Quest XS reach 60+mph going down a hill which gave it enough momentum to have only slowed to about 15mph at the top of the next one - with the rider providing pedal power as well.
Re: You'll Never Guess What Passed Me Today!
have to admit that I bottle it @ 50mph on a semi laden tourer on twisty alpine descents but I wondered why my pilot eased off at the start of a tandem tt (long downhill) - he bottled at @ 50mph too!
Convention? what's that then?

I certainly wasn't bottling it at 50 on a welsh descent a couple of years ago on a trike.
That despite having one wheel on gravel and one on grass - and a 5' flag flapping in the not inconsiderable breeze.
Get three wheels and you just have *so* much more confidence. Of course if it all goes wrong at that speed then it hurts, alot. But even a front wheel puncture doesn't cause it to go wrong on a trike.
I can only imagine that the ease with with a quest will get to that speed will give you more opportunity of getting confident at that speed, and higher

A shortcut has to be a challenge, otherwise it would just be the way. No situation is so dire that panic cannot make it worse.
