Sky Ride
Re: Sky Ride
We used them last September to find an easy group ride we could do on our tandem. The ride was on mainly quiet roads from Sutton Park to Kingsbury Water park. Group size was around 30 in total with 3 Sky leaders. It was all very sociable and we had great fun and would look to use them again.

Yes - I'm a ride leader but I've also been rides a a participant.
Was there anything specific you wanted to know?

no. Just was chatting to another cyclist in Lidl who mentioned the website. Just thought might be worth mentioning here and see what people say, never heard of it before.
Re: Sky Ride
I've done a few.
On the whole they're pretty good and the only real option for social rides other than club ones

2015 will, I think, be the 7th year it has been running.
The big "City" rides on closed roads in places like the centre of Manchester are probably the most widely known part of Sky Ride but the local rides have been a growing part of things. According to a ride leader's news email there were "2,120 rides in over 90 locations throughout the UK, which is just shy of 200 rides per month! [This] has seen over 23,000 participants get out on a bike in 2014."

I did the Bolton event in 2013 along with my club. 6 year old kids on single speed 'bso's' were overtaking us like we weren't even moving. Great fun
And smiling at a few peeved motorists as we cycled 4 abreast on their road tax funded lanes was a high point in particular

Re: Sky Ride
One notable highlight for me on one of the Manchester city rides was watching a very small girl on a bike with stabilisers happily wobbling her way along Deansgate, which is usually nose-to-tail motor traffic.
