A30 Cornwall

Post by Mick F »

Seems as if a mine shaft has opened up on the New A30, so traffic is being diverted onto the Old A30.
Hopefully they'll fix it before the LEJOGers come through in the spring.

Major job. They're going to have to cap it properly. Could take a while to do.

They are looking into it. (Boom, boom. ) Or, atleast:-

The Highways Agency has sent engineers to the scene to examine the extent of the damage.

The Highways Agency are responsible for this one, on one of their cycletracks.

DSCN0052.JPG

I encountered it at the end of February 2014. They coned it off and arranged a temporary fill which failed shortly after. The cones get blown about, moved by vandals and are generally fairly useless.

They had no money in the 2013/14 budget for repairs so had to put it off until 2014/15. Then they had to wait for the newts to finish doing whatever it is that newts do and couldn't start until November. Then they decided the work required was more than first thought so they had to delay things to find some more cash.

Repairs are now scheduled to start next week and works are likely to last until the end of February. During the repairs cyclists will be expected to dismount and walk about 1/2 mile through the adjacent country park.

I wonder if the motorists on the A30 will get a similar level of service  .
