Anyone not been hit by a car
Re: Anyone not been hit by a car
Over 350,000 miles in 68 years, been knocked off once - left hooked.
Re: Anyone not been hit by a car
Nope. Not because of lack of trying by some drivers, but so far I've avoided them.

+1 exactly that.
All of my other vehicular involved accidents have been no contact but me taking evasive action due to bad driving. Have to say that despite almost forty years of riding only twice have i made contact with a motor vehicle resulting in an 'accident'.
Someone on here recently mentioned a sixth sense regarding impending accidents - that may well be taking it too far but you certainly learn to read drivers body language. I don't think 99.99% of drivers intend anyone harm but a significant number real;ly don't have the cognitive skills to drive safely - the ability to pass a test does not mean you can drive safely just that you've learnt to do enough manouevering to pass the test.
Snow and ice by far outstrip other traffic as a cause of injury/bike damage but even then we are talking maybe 10 incidents. My worst cycling accident involved no inclement weather, bad road or other vehicles just a vicious speed hump at @ 5mph!
Convention? what's that then?

Re: Anyone not been hit by a car
Since I posted that I've had another off. Caused by a car but again, it didn't actually hit me. Coming around a roundabout a 4x4 fails to give way - or at least appears to do so, so I swerve out of the way, and promptly fall off. Of course the driver would say (if they had deemed to stop!) that it wasn't their fault, they were nowhere near me etc.
