I went for a 30 mile spin yesterday including the Bath 2 Tunnels. I was unaware there was a HUGE running event taking place and plunged northbound in the tunnels. Heading southbound were over 1000 runners! Yikes. Lucky I had a bell and lights.
I was seriously impressed with the competition runners' tolerance towards Sunday leisure cyclists and how NORMAL it was for them to share without complaint. I didn't hear any angry exchanges and I don't think there were any collisions.
I for one will be looking out for runners and joggers from now on...hc

That's quite surprising and very interesting.
Having stumbled across some pictures of the event yesterday I'd assumed that the tunnels were only open to the runners. Excellent news that all users were welcome throughout.

Hi Gaz. That's right: really good example of how tolerance and generosity of spirit breeds good attitudes all round....b

Runners are generally mellow and relaxed people
But I would add that I get waves and hellos from the runners I see when I'm out riding, but often completely blanked by MAMILs on CF thingies.
