NCN 65 Broomfleet & Hemingbrough

Post by thatruddyvicar »

I've noticed a couple of road sections on this route, otherwise it's really nice quiet back roads. Is it passable on a road bike on 700x25 tyres?.

Barmby on the Marsh to Faxfleet is all tarmac minor roads. From Faxfleet it becomes a dirt track, over the lock bridge and then a stony track to Broomfleet. So that's not really road bike friendly but I would have thought it would be passable with care since it will be dry.

Selby to Hemingbrough is all hard paths, then there's a track of about a mile to the lock at Barmby.

edit: From the Ouse bridge at Selby the TPT/NCN is closed because of rail bridge repairs. You take a residential street off the A19, there's a silver phone box at the junction, that takes you under a railway underpass and you rejoin the trail along there. Oh, there is a stony track there as well - forgot about that bit.
