Jailed for messing a Merc

This (non-cycling) incident involved no physical danger to either party. Strange that we hear of many incidents of cars colliding with cycles, either through driver incompetence or aggression, where physical injury is caused but the penalty imposed by the court is lower. It seems that the courts value car bodies more highly than human bodies !

Running over someone doesn't count as a 'spteful and vengeful attack'-

I can only surmise that the defendant had 'previous' - if not, it seems an extraordinarily severe penalty. And what exactly is 'criminal damage'? Tipping acid, or paint stripper, on a car, such as to leave permanent damage, yes I can understand the terminology there. But flour? Surely it can be cleaned off, with a bit of elbow-grease...

As for this being an act of malice or spite - well, these things do happen. I get fits of rage myself - sometimes. An anger management course might be the way to go.

What did they do with the car owner who'd parked causing an obstruction, clearly they have video evidence of this too.

Nothing - parking is a human right, as important as access to clean water/food (let's just ignore Africa shall we), education (ignoring swathes of the world).
A shortcut has to be a challenge, otherwise it would just be the way. No situation is so dire that panic cannot make it worse.
There are two kinds of people in this world: those can extrapolate from incomplete data.

Maybe this has something to do with it?

I didn't know car washes were so expensive.

Looks like he's well and truly "Huhne"d himself. If he'd agreed to simply cough up for having the car cleaned up, he'd have got away with a fine.

All very interesting, but what's got to do with cycling?

In The Tea Shop threads are generally off the topic of cycling. Forummers need to talk about other things sometimes! :)

Sorry, thought my original thread made it clear. I was trying to make the point that cyclists have suffered physical injury from aggressive motorists and have seen the perpetrators get off more lightly than someone who puts flour on a car.
Let me know if this isn't clear :?
