Ventoux on a Chopper

Post by JamesE »

One for Mick F, here.

Some madman on a child's bike wrote:Swallowing mouthfuls of water and then sucking in huge amounts of air to try to address the deficit I decided I was going to finish this ride with no stops, no messing, no matter what. Not only that, I was also going to catch up and overtake the group of cyclists in matching kit I could see ahead. I started to dig in very deep and ignore all the warning signs: breathlessness, back pain, leg pain, elbow pain, wrist pain, light headedness, the lot. I knew this was risky but the whole thing was a risk and if I’d wanted to do this sensibly I wouldn’t be doing it on a Raleigh Chopper, for heaven’s sake.

Hats off to him…

It wasn't me! I am just passing along an awesome thing I found. I do have plans to climb the Ventoux but maybe on something a little lighter…

Cripes.

The only chopper I could do it on would be from the local airport.
Have we got time for another cuppa?

He didn't do the descent!

Mind you, steel rims and ancient brake blocks, and flexy pressed steel calliper brake arms might not have been a good combination for those hairpin bends...

Matt Richardson from Henley, I saw some pics of the state he was in at the top. He's a strong rider and went full gas all the way up.
