Landmark #2 rings a bell somewhere. Windsor Great Park? (at first I thought Sherwood Forest, but no, not Robin-Hoodery enough....)
And I think Landmark #3 is the Xmas tree in Trafalgar Square, the annual gift from the Norwegians to apologise for getting to the South Pole first (or was it some other reason?)

Suppose that this room is a lift. The support breaks and down we go with ever-increasing velocity.

Yep, that's what I thought. But then I wondered if the drive looks too steep. Although, come to think about it we did get upto 30mph pretty easily on the tandem.
That's it.
Not sure fog counts as a landmark and I don't know the remaining three of the four...

#3 is correct - the xmas tree given each year as a thankyou to the UK giving refuge to the Norwegian royal family during the WW2 I think
#2 nearly right. not strictly Windsor Great Park but Virginia Water? Which has a nice ride around the lake.

There's a well-known landmark there behind the fog and the scafolding...honest. I thought it would be too easy if it wasn't hiding slightly.
A couple of clues:
- at the time I took the photograph (August 2011) the landmark had been under repair and closed to the public for about 2 years
- The presence of my mountain bike indicates that it is close to one of my favourite bridleway routes

Yep and it was bit different back then - the old guy who did them shaped some like well known parts of human anatomy...
