Re: Ten Miles a Day
I've finished cycling for this year (I'm a ski bum and off soon) and have done 3000m since my last season or 16miles per day - I'm well chuffed! I have to say though that for the period I'm away it would be very difficult to get anywhere near that as an average so I reckon anyone who does 10mpd over a full year is really to be admired.

Re: Ten Miles a Day
Just looked at my Garmin stats for the first time in a while and I'm at 3840 miles for the year!
That's my 10 miles/day sorted already. Tidy!

Re: Ten Miles a Day
I'm over 20 per day for the year, around 7,500 so far.
Actually I'm over 20 per day for the last 5 years, I've done around 38,500 miles in the five years I've had a bent trike.
It helps doing over 1,000 miles a month for the 4-5 months I'm on tour every summer.

Re: Ten Miles a Day
Hi,
3877 so far thats 12.4 / day so far, cant see me bettering that now.
Long tours are the answer but I am sticking with my training and a good ride today average HR of 152 over 2 h 34 min, I have only bettered that on the turbo, 168 for 1 h, or a handfull of times on the road 155 over 2h 15 mins.
Finishing the end of the year fitter than I have been for a few years will set me up for next year and hopefully achieve some of my goals

9,100 so far this year so hopefully I'm on course for 10,000+ again. Obsessive? Moi?

I'm quite pleased that, after a slow start to the year, I've reached 2700 miles & now passed 8 miles a day.
That's without much "just going for a ride" & no multiday trips, but helped by a fair dose of tandem riding since June as pilot for a lady who's eyesight is failing & can't safely cycle solo any more.

Re: Ten Miles a Day
I'm just past the 3000 mile so far this year. Mostly commuting with occasional weekend jaunts.
Not going to make the 10 mile/day target this year but gives me something to aim for next year.
My commute is about 7 miles each way so I can crank up 70 miles/week relatively easily
My problem is that I teach at an FE College and I struggle for the mileage during the holidays- must get out more!
I am seriously impressed with 10,000 miles in a year- that must be some serious saddle time (or you are much faster than me)

Re: Ten Miles a Day
Yes, very impressed with 10,000miles a year.
That means nearly 30miles a day .............. every day.
or 200miles a week ............... every week.
I'm at 4,300miles now, but I haven't ridden a great deal for a few weeks, down to 40miles a week recently.
I'd like to get to 4,500miles by New Year's Eve.

Three and a half weeks off bike so I will have to settle on 11.31 M / day, thats twice last years at 5.69 , average Heart Rate has been 145, resting HR is mid 40's.

Re: Ten Miles a Day
Sigma says 2,457 and garmin says 2,223 this year. Garmin has been known to be a lying little toe rag at times though so that's 6.7 miles a day ish.
Might have been more but I got myself one of those girlfriend things last year and that ate into the cycling big time. Can't complain though
Next year I'm re-joining the clarion (I KNOW I KNOW!!!) and provided they don't kill me on my first few outings (the first being on new years day ) zee miles should soon pile up again
