McDonald's drive through?

Post by johnmac »

A stupid idea, I know, but today I decided to pop into McDonald's for a drink. There being no queue of cars, I rode up to the drive-through window.

I was told 'we can't serve you on foot'

'but I'm not on foot - I'm on a bike'

'you have to be in a car'

'fine, I'll take my bike up to the counter inside'

and that's what I did!

Is this their normal policy? I don't know why I'm asking, because it'll probably be another ten years before I feel the need to partake of chav culture again!

It's obviously a corporate safety policy (i.e. keep pedestrians out of harm's way) being poorly interpreted by the staff.

If you wanted to take it further, you could write to McDonalds HQ, but the problem is that if you're successful, you'll be winning the right to a slightly more convenient way of buying <inappropriate term removed>.

Plenty of clips on youtube of others trying to do likewise. I'd give it a go myself but I prefer BK.

The health and safety excuse is bogus. At the 24hr ones the main bit closes at night and you get served from the drive through no matter what - on foot, on bike, on a camel etc etc.

I'd have to desperate to buy from MacD's.

I tried a Pot Noodle a few weeks ago, and it was pointless as there seemed to be no food value in it at all. MacD's is similar.

Mc Donalds were trying to appeal to healthy eaters and introduced a range of salads. The calorie count in those is actually higher than a burger.

Only they could do that.
