Get your bike back on the road advice...

Post by [XAP]Bob »

From Halfords:

1-Clean your bike (Branded frame cleaner)
2-Lube the chain (Branded lube)
3-Replace the chain (Unbranded chain)

Genius...
A shortcut has to be a challenge, otherwise it would just be the way. No situation is so dire that panic cannot make it worse.
There are two kinds of people in this world: those can extrapolate from incomplete data.

Hmmm.... maybe new chains suffer from something called "psychic lube memory". They remember that the previous chain had just been oiled, so they run more smoothly.

In case you're wondering, I just made that up...

Gears? What are these things called gears?

Make sure bike goes forward
Make sure bike can be slowed down.

Job done.

The thing I spend most time on is topping up air including full inflations and puncture repairs.
This last year I've been really slack with attention to my daily but honestly it hasn't impinged on its ability to go forward and stop and has cost me precisely £0.10 in semi synthetic diesel oil and a 1/20 of an old sheet.
