Norway to stop returning migrants to Russia by bike

Many here may remember that some migrants were getting to Europe via Russia to Norway by bike

seems like they have until now been returning them that way -

In a normal winter it is not fun up there on a bike unless you are very well prepared. Temperatures dipped below -40'c recently in Finnmark. It think even Shane would start to struggle at those temperatures :lol:

They've only recently started sending them back. The decision not to send them back by the bikes they arrive on is due to the weather. You might think that if they arrive by bike they can reasonably be sent back by bike, but it's more amusing than that. They are generally trucked to the near the Russian border post, and ride on some cheap child's bike only a short distance between the two border posts, a couple of km or so. If they are sent back, there probably isn't a lift waiting for them and it is about 30-50km back to a town. You'd have thought after a few of them had had to ride 30-50km in poor weather on a rubbish child's bike the rate of people trying this one might reduce.
