Not only do I have the mini Lezyne, I have a Lezyne track pump too.

The valves only unscrew if you
1. don't have the valve core screwed tight enough.
2. you unscrew the Lezyne connector non-square.

It's easy peazy, all you need to do is do it properly.

Since going over to Lezyne and the Air Bleed System (ABS), I wouldn't use anything else. I cannot recommend them highly enough.

For my commute I carry 2 spare tubes, 2 co2 canisters and I have a few park tools self stick type patches. I also have a mini pump. It's crap but I only use it to inflate the new tube slightly to get it to sit on the rim properly. Once it's all done it gets inflated with the co2 canister.

Whilst cycling the Camino route in Spain last year, I was given a tiny key in a cycle shop which ensures that the Presta valve is screwed in tight.
Also Lezyne now supply a right angled connector which is particularly handy for smaller wheels such as Brompton, Moulton or Birdy.

Yep!
The designers at Lezyne really know their stuff.
Practical, light and beautiful to look at.

Question: When does a high pressure tyre become a high volume tyre; ie, what tyre does one decide to use a MTB rather than a road pump? So are Vitoria Hyper 700 x 38c tyres high pressure or high volume?

38mm wide is high volume.
I doubt you'd be putting in 120psi like I do in my 23mm tyres.

I always check the valve core on a new tube using a Park Tool VC1 Valve Core Tool, a mini chain tool also often fits (link to vid). It is worth checking them even if you don't use a screw-on connector as a slightly loose core can be mistaken for a puncture.

And 700 x 32's?

Put another way, what is it reasonably to expect a mtb pump to get up too in pressure?

Having tried one, I found it ok up to 80psi, but terrible after that. 80psi in my rear tyre would be classed as a puncture!
I've also pumped up fat MTB tyres with my HP pump and it took ages.

I had a horrible Crank Bros mini pump and you could swap a lever over between HV and HP. Providing you could stand the idea of using the horrible thing, it worked ok in HV to get going, but after a while you had to flip to HP to give more mechanical advantage.

The Mountain Morph claims 160psi. I only used it up to 110psi myself and it did that easily enough, though weighing 14 stone probably helps there.

The 37mm hypers are better served by the Mountain than the Road but either will do it adequately.

This one's mine - in red.
http://www.lezyne.com/product-fpumps-hp ... qeWoDbPxE4
220psi max.

The MTB version is 60psi max.

Mountain Morph
http://www.topeak.com/products/pumps/mountainmorph
Rated to 160psi but at the same time it says it's high volume.
As far as I'm concerned, you can't have it both ways.

HV means what it says, and in order to get HP out of it, you have to press harder.
Best thing to use, is the correct tool for the job.

The Road Morph is also rated at 160psi, but I bet it's a lot easier to get it there. :D

That's great, thanks, I think I might get one of those and a Lezyne as my next pump.
I've always swapped a single pump between bikes, but realising half way round a long ride that I didn't have it with me has made me consider investing in one for each.

Zefal HPX is about as good as it gets in my experience.

After having to use a £3 sports direct pump on the road on Saturday, I bought one of these:

http://www.tredz.co.uk/.Truflo-Minitrac ... _64435.htm

I've only used it once, but it inflated my tyre to 80psi in what seemed a reasonably short time. Not as fast as my Joe Blow full sized track pump, but IMHO not bad at all for a roadside pump up.
