This happens only rarely to me luckily, so when it does happen and I have footage, I feel inclined to post it (caution - bad language ).

My take is, the fact that I had to do an evasive manoeuvre puts van driver in the wrong.

Suppose that this room is a lift. The support breaks and down we go with ever-increasing velocity.

Hi,
Didn't have the sound on so didn't hear your grumblings.
Wed / Friday two cars pulled out on me at a roundabout and I shouted at the top of my voice "Get out of the £"($!^& way" I think them and the half a dozen other drivers heard me.
Sheer frustration, they saw me and pulled out anyway
Stay Sharp.

it happens to me a lot & always has. I even think its made me a better motorist because I've learned not to trust others to wait at junctions etc.
If you're involved in a collision in that situation the vehicle moving from the minor road is always held to be at fault - usually 100% at fault. Its what insurers call a minor into major collision. The company insuring the driver coming out of the side road normally won't even bother to defend a claim by the person on the main road - they'll just pay up. Maybe if motorists were more aware of that they'd be less inclined to do it.
Its ironic that whenever strict liability is mentioned motoring campaigners argue that cyclists will engineer all sorts of spurious claims to get money out of beleaguered drivers where in reality there are plenty of drivers all ready to offer themselves up for claims against them!

Assumption is the Mother of all.....
Perhaps the diversion signs led the fellow to assume you were going to turn left???
Not condoning the actions but that was my first impression.
Ever vigilant & all that
All the best, Simon
