CCTV/Evidence

Post by QUIST »

Having been told by PLOD that there were no evidences so ( we can't be bothered?) so take it further it occurred to me afterwards that as the near miss was bang in the centre of Derby there would be CCTV - could this not be used?

Yes, but it needs to be searched...
A shortcut has to be a challenge, otherwise it would just be the way. No situation is so dire that panic cannot make it worse.
There are two kinds of people in this world: those can extrapolate from incomplete data.

Near misses hardly ever lead to prosecutions. If it is a plain-as-a-pikestaff case of dangerous driving, and you are on first name terms with the Lord Chancellor, and you have the evidence, you might just about be force them to take some action, maybe resulting in a caution for careless driving. At least that is what Martin Porter, the cycling QC found - it is documented on his blog. So now you understand why they really aren't interested in spending time looking for evidence.
