East-West Cycle Super Highway Appeal Rejected

Post by AndyBSG »

I think we all knew the Taxi Drivers Association was clutching at straws so no surprise their appeal was thrown out.

I did have to chuckle at the LTDA secretaries quote that "There is evidence that it is sucking the lifeblood of London, causing traffic jams, with hundreds stuck bumper to bumper, poisoning everybody else with pollution.”

So, the hundreds of empty black cabs spewing out pollution and clogging the streets up are perfectly fine though!

In related news, anyone know how the United Cabbies Group got on with their attempt to bring Central London to a standstill today in protest at Uber?

Wait until there are banks of 'self driving Boris cars'. They'll have something to complain about then.

Yes, Mick, our dream of a Cornwall-Norfolk Super Highway is still not yet under construction ;-)

Sadly, yes.
You've sussed me out!

I wonder if an East/West route would be better bypassing London altogether?
Maybe Great Yarmouth to St David's Head would be a better Super Highway.
Newcastle Workington?
Spurn Head Fleetwood?
Berwick Stranraer?

Didn't know there were black cabs cluttering up Cornwall as well.

Not if you need to cycle in central London.

I just hope this one is better planned and constructed than parts of CS2....

What can one say to the poor old cabbies? How about:

"Cycling ..... über ..... allez!"
Suppose that this room is a lift. The support breaks and down we go with ever-increasing velocity.
Let us pass the time by performing physical experiments...

Why not all of them? Still probably cheaper to build than the London ones. Wasn't this the original vision for the National Cycle Network?

Not Cornwall, but here's a shot or two from Plymouth. Poor streetview shots really, it's quite often clogged with them.

Well there is an East West route that's been round for thousands of years... You just turn the Greater Ridgeway into a proper cycle path. Job done!

There were some horrible traffic jams in some places, and some other places were weirdly quiet. Overall my ride took a few mins longer due to getting past the jams.

I want to know what they are going to do about the idiots who think it a good idea to install numerous lights controlled pedestrian crossings on a segregated cycle route. They should be forced to go and live in the Netherlands until they notice that they haven't got any there, and realised it is because you don't need them.
