Sturmey archer 3 speed where to repair Cam / E Mids

Post by SolarBrian »

Hi,
Anyone know of a bike shop in the Cambridge or East Midlands area which can strip down & refurbish 3 speed SA hub gears?
middle gear is slipping, (for a friend, diy job not possible).
thanks, B

In Cambridge, http://bicycleambulance.com/repairs/ list £30 for an AW overhaul.

But middle gear slipping is usually a sign of the wrong cable tension or wrong indicator part. Are you SURE it's set correctly? http://workingoncycles.blogspot.co.uk/2 ... -gear.html is the best guide I've seen.
MJR, mostly pedalling 3-speed roadsters. KL+West Norfolk BUG incl social easy rides http://www.klwnbug.co.uk

thank-you for the reply, another bike has gone to the ambulance as a result, the owner is very grateful. I'll have a quick look at the SA cable myself.

Good advice about the cable, it was indeed sagging loose, so it was only getting gears 2&3. and slipping between them in position 2 on the lever.
