Dished front wheel build- spoke choice?

chaps, when examining spoke tensions, it doesn't matter where the 'base' of your triangle is, or indeed how long the spokes are on each side, even. All that matters is the angle of the spokes to the plane orthogonal to the hub axis. Then you assume that the rim is under no net lateral load which means that the horizontal (axial) components of each tension force are equal and opposite.

In the right hand dwg if the spoke tensions are equal the rim sees a net lateral force. No good.
