Mavic Freehub Question(s)

Do you see that six sided nut in the end? Well, what does that do? It isn't just a nut, it is attached to the dustover thing behind it. So is that it ... just a dustover? Or is that how Mr Mavic presses in the cartridge bearings into his freehubs? It goes in and out using seemingly using the same threads that the cassette lockring screws into.

Well then forgive me, but having seen that video a few times over the last few months perhaps you could tell me which bit explains the assembly of the Mavic freehub body and what that nut is for?

it looks like the nut is RH threaded... but there are several different versions of this freehub design, varying with exact model and year of manufacture.

Mavic = mechanical nightmare. Every year between 2003-2010 they changed spoke length AND hub design on almost every wheelset. Good luck trying to find a wheel / year specific guide because in the ten years of owning Mavic wheels I've never been able to (satisfactorily) repair one. I've got them back on the road but imo they're not designed for a lifespan exceeding than of the very thin rims.
