Shimano 105 cassette (10 speed)
Can anyone tell me if I can get a 11-30 or 12-32 10 speed cassette for a Shimano 105 compact set up please. If so, do I need to change any other components?
Re: Shimano 105 cassette (10 speed)
presumably you have a RD5701 rear mech. This comes in two styles
SS - with nominal max 30T sprocket size
GS - with nominal max sprocket size of 32T
If you have the older RD5600 model then the nominal max sprocket size is 27T for the SS model although plenty of people run 28T with these mechs, it seems.
There are gazillions of 10s cassettes that fit a 'conventional' 8/9/10s freehub body from a number of makers, so the world is your lobster there, it is the mech that is likely to be the issue either in max sprocket or total capacity terms.
cheers

You can get an Ultegra 12-30 10speed cassette:- http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/uc/e ... -prod39014
We ran this on my daughters Cube with 105 shifters, but Ultegra short arm rear mech, as it came with 50-34 and 12-30 gearing, though we now run a 14-25 cassette instead. Not sure how your 105 mech capacity compares to the Ultegra, but you may find it works ok.

You can also get a Tiagra 10 speed 12-30 cassette for less then half the price of the Ultegra from Chain Reaction.

Re: Shimano 105 cassette (10 speed)
One of my bikes is currently set-up with a 10 speed Tiagra 12/30 cassette and a 105 5700 GS derailleur. (triple chainset.)
I don't know if it would stretch to a 32T cassette though. ?

You'll never know if you don't try it.

Switch to sram 12-36 cassette and shadow 9 speed XT rear mech. You won't regret it.
