1 inch threadless fork spacers

Post by garygkn »

Hi,
I have a frame with a threadless 1" fork.
I bought a shim for the stem so that I could use a 1 1/8 stem as there is a choice in stems at this standard.
I bought some spacers at the same time but these are 1 1/8 and seem a bit big to me i'm sure i should have been sold some 1" threadless spacer but now I've had a look I'm not sure these are available? Whenever I type in 1" I just get 1" 1/8 options.

Does anyone know where they are available or if the 1 1/8 spacers will work?

Any feedback most welcome.

Thanks,
Gary

Thanks I didn't think of eBay and forgot all SJSC.

I take it that 1" threaded has had it's day?

Hi There, The 1" threaded headset will live on yet a long while, especially with custom builders. Mercian, Bob Jackson and many, many more will happily use them. A lightly stressed frame will feel very safe with such, whereas a machine such as a tricycle will feel stressed so an oversize headset will be needed.
This also goes for fork blades! TTFN MM

A few folk still produce them, and Kinetic One even produce 1" carbon forks, at least they did two years ago.

I think I might buy a spare before they disappear.

My impression of late has been that 1" steerers are making something of a comeback.
Have we got time for another cuppa?

Good idea the 1" threadless seems to be a dinosaur already.

I've got a bag of 1" carbon spacers. Let me know what height you want and I'll send you them, £5 including postage.

Thanks Whoof but I jumped on one of the links to eBay as soon as it was posted. They had silver alloy so I went for those.
