Bottom bracket for Gios torino

Post by gwud »

Can anyone suggest the best replacement BB for my Gios
It has Italian thread, bb shell width 68mm and I think the Axle square taper with needs to be 115 mm
I want to refit the existing campag nouvo record chain set
Thanks

I would suggest that you try to track down the correct campag BB if you can do; note that NR spindle lengths vary with year of crank; any strict stipulation of length should be taken with a pinch of salt; they changed the taper too, so late cranks use an ISO taper but earlier ones will work better with a JIS.

If you want a cheap and cheerful solution, buy a few different shimano ones and send back the ones that don't fit.

cheers

the stamp marks on the crank will indicate the date of manufacture; this and a little detective work will help you decide what length might be correct.

You can't put Shimano on that frame. It's just wrong.

Definitely not cheap, but what about....http://www.royceuk.co.uk/Bottom-Bracket ... ed-Square/

Get what you pay for.

yeah, but finding the exact right length is arguably the better half of the battle here. I'd sooner do that by buying shimano ones piecemeal before ordering a posh one.
