The new duct tape?

Looks potentially interesting.

Maybe you bright sparks have bike application ideas.

I have used Sugru for all manner of things for a year or two. Highly recommended.

Not used it on any bike based fixes yet though

Shame their video has to hit the gutter with their abbreviations. It's put me off it already. It wouldn't even be allowed on here. Strange how marketing people are so wrapped up in their own hip world that they're completely unaware of other people and their standards and values. Maybe they only want young people to buy it.

Many months back I came across an on-line advert for this stuff and some time later I thought of something that it would be the perfect fix for.

By then I'd forgotten what the stuff was called  . Now I can't remember what I wanted to fix  .

What's it like on soles of shoes ?
Would it wear well or peel off?

Interesting about the shock absorbing qualities....
I wonder if I bought enough packs if I could build a huge anti-car bumper around my bike?

or a helmet?

I used it for a couple of bike-related tasks. See my Amazon review here for details.

Perhaps you can roll it out between two pieces of cling film to make a custom poncho

Might be wonderful but don't they know that it's duck tape (as it's based on cotton duck!)?

This link explains a lot & gives a list of additional names for the stuff.

No its not, its Duct Tape, used for sealing joints in ducts since air conditioning and ventilation ducts were invented years and years and years ago. Also used by riggers and gaffers on film sets and concert stages for aeons. Duck Tape is just a brand of Duct Tape. The loose woven filament strands gives it strength and the ability to tear it straight without a knife or scissors.

Yes, I once worked in that industry and it was always called duct tape.

But it has a multitude of uses and had acquired a multitude of names. When I worked in the arts, the gaffers called it gaffer tape. When I went car racing it was called racing tape. I've heard kayakers call it canoe tape. Bookbinders give their own name to it.
Maybe somebody uses it to keep all their ducks lined up in a row.
The theory is simple: a) cycling is inherently fun, and b) the less weight you carry, the more fun it is.

IIRC 'duck tape' is a brand name.

And yes, they make duct tape, amongst other things.

cheers

Not this one again...

...no-ones going to win

"duck tape" was used earlier. "duct tape" became the industry standard spelling. "Ductape" and "Duck Tape" are brand names for the stuff.]

Take your pick :D
