Would someone be kind enough to give me a lesson?
I know that an Octalink axle spline is/was different from an ISIS axle spline. However, the splines inside the 'cups' used to fit/remove these cartridge units were to the same pattern in the case of both Octalink and ISIS. Agree?
But what about those Octalink cartridge bottom brackets that seemed to have notched flanges? I think there was maybe a Dura-Ace one. How did these fit? Did all these cups with notched flanges also have splines?
Thanks for any comments.

Re: Octalink and ISIS
The ones I've used also had splines. Not sure if there were any with just the notched flanges, but there was a tool for that, just like there is for the notched shells of HT2 bearings.
Re: Octalink and ISIS
ISIS BBs use a different splined tool in at least some if not all cases.
Shimano Octalink BBs with external notches (DA, Ultegra, &...?) also have internal splines in every instance I have seen.
cheers
