how to adjust shimano ultegra levers?

Post by Spoke »

Hello,

It seems that ultegra levers can not be adjust for perfect reach. :(
I googled and find out about this:
http://www.evanscycles.com/products/specialized/slim-shim-brake-lever-spacer-ec008424

Did anybody tried it? Will it fit ultegra levers?

Thx!

Yes of course - but are the reviews on the web shop to be believed? I can imagine that if there are too many negative reviews they will be removed?

The reviews seem sufficiently diverse to me.

Shimano 6700 levers come with two sets of shims to adjust reach.

I've been using these on Ultegra levers for the last year. They noticeably improve control when braking from the hoods - something I previously found problematic, despite not having small or weak hands.

Pull back the hoods and you should find a slot headed screw. Clockwise to move lever in, anti clockwise to move it out.

Not on all Shimano levers, I think, and not on Ultegras (or at least not c. 2010 version)

They are certainly there on mine and Shimano themselves describe the process in the manual for Ultegra levers.

Thank you all for the answers. Mine Ultegra levers do not have the adjustments. Not sure what year.
I will give shims the chance. :)

the levers will have a model number somewhere near the pivot; that is the clue to their vintage and which techdocs apply.

cheers
