Seatpost clamp for rack fitting

Post by pw1brown »

Can anyone point me to a 29.8 mm seatpost clamp with attachment points for a rack for a Genesis Equilibrium? I find a lot of 31.8 mm and larger, but the size I need seems very scarce indeed on the internet!

Hi

The Carradice version is fitted in addition to your seat post clamp and fits over either the seat post or frame with shims if necessary http://www.carradice.co.uk/index.php?pa ... uct_id=121

Carradice are currently out of stock, but others will no doubt have them

The Blackburn seat post rack comes with fittings that they say will fit anything from 22 - 32mm.

0.2mm won't make any difference so this 30mm one should do the job. Its pricy though for what it is IMO.

Don't take this the wrong way, it is just that I have seen the mistake made

Is 29.8 the diameter of the seat post (not uncommon in mountain bikes) or the outer tube of the seat tube.

This is why they all seem large

If the former than the 31.8 mm will probably be fine, if the latter I apologise.

Thanks for these ideas - I'll follow them up.

To fill in some of the detail, my seatpost is 27.2 mm diameter and the bike spec on the Genesis website says it's currently fitted with a 29.8 mm seatpost clamp.

Hi

Did you get the seatpost clamp? What size was it in the end? I'm needing the same for my Equilibrium. I'm figuring on getting a Tortec Velocity rack for a doing the Way of the roses in a few weeks.

Thanks!
