Broken brompton frame - where can I get it repaired?

Post by rscrase »

Hello,

My 1996 5 speed brompton frame 'tore' just in front of the frame hinge. While the bike was being dismantled also notices a crack in the cross-piece of the back-wheel 'frame'. Does anyone know of a place where these can be repaired? The cost of new parts (@£450) plus labour exceeds my budget.

Thanks!

If the breaks are in the steel, i.e. not through a brazed joint, any competant welder should be able to repair it.
That's why people who tour in remote parts of the world still look to steel frames.
But a cycle frame builder or motorcycle specialist may be more competant.
Your location would be useful for recommending people.
My worse day on my bike is better than my best day at work!
