'obsolete' is a strange choice of word to describe a system with good interchangeability and spare component support...

and me-too-ism is the worst reason for spending a fortune on new parts IMHO.

What next, I wonder...? Another new gruppo when someone with 105 looks down their nose at your new tiagra...? :roll:

Many riders (myself included) think that many compact double setups are just plain daft, because they inevitably leave you running cross-chained too much of the time.

If you want to go quicker/further, do some more training; the bike spec will be making 0.0-something % difference here; the big things after training are riding position and tyre choice, not other people's (largely fashion-driven) views on how your gears are arranged.

Ok I have decided to change my shifters with the Claris versions as the thumb changer really does my head in and leave the triple. Thanks everyone for your advise
