Actually it's 75psi the max the tyres are supposed to take. 140kg all in (thats just day bag) with 35mm schwalbe marathon plus tour. it's fine on roads but on trail it can be very bumpy. Back wheel has taken a hammering maybe need to take it slower or stand up more over the rougher stuff or maybe it's just bedding in since the bike is only a month old.

I've just checked back in the thread and noticed you riding M+ tour which have a stiff carcass and thick tread,I'd drop the rear to 70psi and the front to 50psi:-

Whats wrong with the wheel in a month-old bike?

Nothing really just buckles I think the wheel spoke tension wasn't right. They've been taken out now but I'm suspecting I've got a little bit of a flat spot now I need to take a closer look.

I'm going to drop the pressure as suggested see what that is like on comfort.

It was quite difficult to measure wheel load on did goal scales by myself but it's approx 55/90 kg which would be 70/100 psi. I'm losing weight though still I think that's going to be my biggest help.

Reohn2 do you still think 50/70 psi? I'm going to try it later.

Just noticed, the 2014 Delux has been re-named the Elite for 2015 and price has gone up to £1200. 20% increase. Always thought the £1000 was good in the UK.

They are now bringing the Comp into the UK, this one has the better Reynolds 725 tubes, at £1400.

As was pointed out months ago (by Colin I think), it would be much better with proper, low MTB type gearing. Like Genesis have done with the Tour De Fer. Other than that, it's almost right.

This isn't a criticism of the AWOL but why is Reynolds 725 CroMo any better than other CroMo's if say gauges are the same?

Or is it about the strength? Stonger steel can be made thinner and therefore lighter of course, 725 has a UTS (Ultimate Tensile Strength) of 1080-1280 MPa, as compared to 525 which is only 700-900 MPa. Apparently the difference is due to heat treatments:

How does other CroMo compare? E.g. heat treated Tange CroMo does exist, called Ultimate, but I don't know if it is as strong as 725:

I got an Awol and mine now has mtb crank and it's better. No idea why they put that silly road crank on.
