Bleph refers to riding over that way. Maybe it's his.

See the gumf about the project 002- adventure cargo bike? Hmmm. Not that Surly and Kona haven't done something along those lines (Big Dummy and Ute?) but I don't think they actually called them 'adventure' or put the load forward.

Still find the site rather irritating. Hiding the fact it's a Specialised brand for a start, and filling it with very staged hipster pics. Mind you, I'd say the same about the 'Lost Coast' entry in the Salsa Blog that was posted in here not so long ago...

Heh, can safely say that's not mine, and the claim of just getting for one of the first in the UK is a bit of a reach, I've had mine since mid December (unless stock really was *that* limited)...

A guy I rode with in my old club had a tri-cross for touring on, he doesn't do internetting so probably wasn't aware of any negative views on it, he bought it and liked it enough to do the last PBP and LEL on it.

That wasn't a negative view. More an analysis of marketing target.

Just a week or so ago I looked on the Evans site to see if AWOL stock was available yet. They had one size in stock and the others due on the 5th of May.

Looked yesterday and it says the awol is discontinued at Evans. Did Specalized UK get the price wrong so thay are all going elsewhere?

Or more likely they've given up waiting for stock so have ditched them altogether, maybe they've had word there wont be any for a while?

The Specialized toe was dipped, the sales volume and clamouring for it wasn't realised, the withdraw has begun.
IMHO I'm glad,it was never going to be a big seller,so thankfully it won't take sales away from the more specialised(and better IMO) niche market manufacturers, such as Salsa,Surly,Singular,Cotic,Kona, etc

And available to order from any Specialized dealer. Not a huge stock at Specialized UK though.

Quote from AWOL owner

"The AWOL's been really fun. I took it on a mixed-surface ride with 8500' of climbing last week, and it was just awesome--ride quality feels more like a good steel road bike than a tank-ish touring bike on the road, and yet it bombs fire roads very confidently in the drops. (We were over 35mph on a long, rocky dirt descent, and I never felt like the bike was getting sketchy.)"

Hey Brian, where'd you get that quote? Is there an interesting thread about these on another forum?
