Has anyone tried one of these?
They look very neat and tidy.

I haven't tried this one. My first impression is that it's too small, and too far from the eyes-front position. Agree about the "neat" comment :D

I haven't got one of those but I've got the less neat Cateye one. It's really good and would never ride without a mirror.

I don't want a normal mirror really (it wouldn't look good, or even fit very well on my machine) but today I was cycling to the big city, and could've used the ability to actually know that there was traffic on my tail.

A mirror, IMHO cannot take the place of a good look. But a small, neat one could at least give me an indication. I don't know about anyone else, but if I turn to look back, I go a little off course. A small mirror might obviate the need to look to confirm the presence of traffic.

I don't use a mirror instead of a good look but it is useful to avoid suprises.

Frankly that looks as much use as a chocolate teapot.
The Bike Eye looks a better bet,http://www.bike-eye.com/
Having said that I would not swap that for my Velcro on Blackburn.http:
Its so good I seldom need to look round ,but that is on country roads

I have a B&M bar end mirror that gives a good view;

I've since seen this one wich is like the one you link to, just a touch bigger and looks to be a better fitting.

Thanks for advice, guys, but none of the suggestions come anywhere the neatness and clean lines of what I want. (or think I want)

I don't want to SEE behind me, I just want an indication that there's something there. It has to fit in the bar-end of my drops and it has to be small and unobtrusive or I won't bother.

Yeah Mick F I have these mirrors on both my bikes a Hewitt Chevoit and a Dawes Galaxy on Morphe drop handlebars and I wouldnt be without them now now.

They are a bit trickey to install first time around but a lot easier after that.

Perfect for a quick glance to see whats coming behind and there is no vibration so you get a clear picture of whats behind

Sounds great John! And they look as I expected. I thought of two, too. I'd hate to be caught by the Asymmetry Police.

The Wildo ones might do, thank you Wildo, but they won't. (Sorry about the joke!) They're too big.

I thought they looked rather discreet. Just the job to save embarrassment  when dreaming of crossing the Tourmalet with 5 minutes in hand when some teenager coasts by hardly raising a sweat and may mutter a condescending "OK?" before quickly disappearing down the road.
