If the front light is on, so is the rear, and you only need to recharge one light rather than two.

But they are very pricey.
But you don't know it's on unless you can see it or is there an indicator somewhere?

On one bike I have 3 (dynamo) rear lights wired in parallel. However they rely on the cable from the front light not being broken or having a bad connection.

I've ordered the Reelight RL770 set and hope it's not an expensive mistake. I have the right kind of mounting points (fork crown + rack), the right number of rear spokes and fingers crossed it won't be too horrendous a task to install in this cold weather. And I hope the whole system doesn't get nicked the next time I've taken my son to the library and parked the bike outside.

And, of course, hopefully the rear light will always turn on when I'm moving.

It's mounted on the seatpost, it's so bright the reflected light off the rear rack makes it look like I have neon tubes behind me. I'm assured is write striking from behind for exactly that reason.

I have a light and movement sensing light like this: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Battery-Rear-li ... B001NC4N70 Mine is actually the updated S version, and was a bit cheaper cos I got it off some German mail order site. Unfortunately, I can't remember where! In fact, I've got three senso lights: one each from B&M, Spanninga and Axa!

My BUMM Luxos U has a controll LED for the rear light, whichs works well

I think that the fibre-optic idea still has something going for it.

yes, especially for battery lights

These look interesting

My choice would be a dyno system, although the initial outlay is high you never buy batteries again and again and they can be left on permanently
