Apologies if the answer to this has been posted before as I suspect it has but I just can't locate it.
I've got an old road frame which I've added a road compact chainset to - 50/34
I'm using this with flat bars and MTB shifters
Somewhere I've seen reference to a particular Shimano road front derailleur that will work well with this setting.
Anyone know the reference please?

Re: Front derailleur for Compact chainset
What you need is a fd for mtb cable pull, road chainline, for ~50T large ring, so their previous* fd's for hybrids are candidates. For 8, 9 and 10 speed the FD-R440A, FD-R440 and FD-R770 respectively are possibility, see http://www.niko-bikes.com/pdf/shimano/TN_EN/TN_07_EN.PDF.
* some of Shimano's latest flat bar front shifters have road cable pull and are compatible with their normal road fd's, which you can consider if you haven't got your "mtb shifter" already.
