The worst bit was when one ride cut across another - commentator made the usual comments about it being bad riding, then they showed the replay and the commentator came out with "I don't believe it, he's done it again!" or words to that effect.

My fave BBC instant Punditry was a previous Winter Olympics, where one of their generic sports commentators opined that skating up a hill on XC skis was so much easier than "classic" striding... There spoke someone that's never tried it!

I don't mind P&P, but didn't miss them at the Commonwealth road races.
I think you'd have to look very, very hard to find folk significantly better than Gary Imlach, Chris Boardman and Ned Boulting. Ned's books are worth a read too.
