[SPOILERS] Carbon Fibre....

Post by [XAP]Bob »

Frame snapping in the tour - I'd like to see if we see how ;)

Contador has some work to do...
A shortcut has to be a challenge, otherwise it would just be the way. No situation is so dire that panic cannot make it worse.

I think you should be more specific in your title about what it's a spoiler for!

What happened?

Tour De France, Contador crashed. People are saying his S-works frame broke and it caused the crash.

Got that, meanwhile I've had a look at the reports and not seen a mention of frame breakage?

Reports are coming in that Alberto Contador's frame snapped which would explain how he sustained such damage on a relatively slow section of the course.

His Tinkoff-Saxo team-mates are all up the road, so he will have to make his way back to the pack solo.

He is looking tentative as he negotiates the first corners since his crash. His hope at the start of the day was of making inroads in the general classification. Now they might be just keeping himself in contention for the rest of the Tour.

Apparently no snapped carbon frame now, was just a rumour. He did crash though and has withdrawn due to injury or lack of contaminated steaks for dinner last night

3 different stories.
Frame broke.
Bike fell of car in front of him.
He says he hit something in the road.
As it is he has badly damaged his knee causing him to abandon. :(
You'll never know if you don't try it.

Fractured tibia diagnosed on x-ray. And he rode on after the crash for about ten minutes with this injury.

definitely there is a leg with a temporary cast on it, and a broken frame with a #31 race number on it, and the question is what caused that....

I just posted some links in the Ad Nauseam thread.

cheers

From what they said on the coverage on ITV4, the broken frame was spotted on top of the team car, but this had been caused by it falling off the team car when they were changing Nicolas Roche's wheel, shortly before Contador's crash, I think that's what they meant had happened anyway.

The article from Velonews suggests the bike was broken by the Belkin team car.

Bike broken on the roof - yet another "don't put it on the roof" story to add to all those driving into their garages...

Contador get's the "tough as nails" award for cycling, at TdF speeds, uphill, 20km with a broken leg!!!
