Thank you very much. When someone tells me they're enjoying what I'm writing, that is all the incentive I need. Hopefully I'll be back home in 3 weeks. Until then I'll enjoy the Spanish sunshine, the French clouds and the English drizzle. Thanks again.

And really, having just looked at some of the story, that's what I mean. He is personable and unusual enough to have traded some small services for food or accommodation on his LEJOG. And people will offer such once or twice because it's unusual. They wouldn't be keen if it was happening three times a week. That is not to denigrate what he has done or the way he is doing it - simply that it wouldn't work on a larger scale.

As a for instance I live pretty much on the route of the (walking) Coast to Coast. A couple of years ago I met a couple who were having problems and I offered not only to run them into a local town by car but also to use our lawn to camp on if they wanted it (eventually they turned down both). I was happy to try and help but I wouldn't do it three times a week. That's my point.

There are some people who take delight in hosting travellers & hearing their stories on sites like Warm Showers & Couchsurfing. Some have hosted hundreds of guests from all over the world.
I take your point about 'three times a week' but in some parts of the world it's custom to show hospitality to strangers.
When I travelled in India we where asked many times a day into peoples homes for chai, food, cool drinks or just shade.
If we had accepted a fraction of them we would have got nowhere fast.

We originally planned for 100 days but for one reason or another decided to speed up. In the end it took 66 days.

The ONLY thing I'm not happy about is not being able to join you guys on the ride. It's my life ambition to sun bleach my eyebrows!

My weirdly blonde eyebrows weren't caused by excessive European sun. They're brown again now, but I'm riding around Britain this summer and I bet they go stupidly white once again. One decent sunbeam and that's it. I'm a freak.

As it stands, I'm planning to go to Morocco for about 10 weeks in spring to see what it's like before it inevitably falls to ISIS. Then a grand tour of Britain for what would normally be the summer months in any other country. But we'll have to see. You still planning another Spain variation?

I hate to be one of those naye sayers but check out CGOAB before you go to Morocco as someone has written about problems travelling through there recently. As for your book it sounds interesting so its on my Christmas present list. We went to Gibraltar this year but by plane as its far easier.

Yep, I'm going to do a month in Catalonia/Pyrenees in May/June, then not sure, might do something in Scotland if they get a summer this year! Good luck with Morocco, haven't been there for a long time so don't know what the situation is like there now.

I saw a blog on CGOAB about a woman who got robbed near Agadir but people can get robbed anywhere. Was that the one you meant? And if you're in Scotland in summer, I might see you there.

Mmm, interesting. And not in a good way. I think I'll just make sure I've got nothing at all worth stealing. I'll be on my second bike anyway, a knackered old mountain bike. The fabric of the seat is peeling. I was going to get a new one. I don't think I'll bother now. Thanks for the info.
