Tandems to Denmark
Do any of you hardened world tourists know how to get a family of four and a pair of tandems to Denmark?

Re: Tandems to Denmark
We were going to tour Denmark last year but had to cancel due to illness. Since the Harwich/Esbjerg ferry finished options are very limited. The DFDS ferry website tells you its just a convenient 400km drive to Denmark these days from Holland! - not much use to cyclists - train from Rotterdam through northern Germany seemed the only option to us so for the time being we have given up. We did speculate about paying somebody to drive us there but for two bikes it is costly - 4 tandems in a van might be a more realistic option.
What we need is a bike bus that covers northern Europe - Any entrepreneurs out there want to take that idea further?

May be defer the trip to next year if you can, when hopefully the Harwich to Esbjerg route will materialise again with Regina Line http://www.reginaline.dk/index-uk.htm

This nonsense keeps on being repeated. There is zero chance Regina Lines will ever take you across the north sea.
To be clear
- Regina lines is not a ferry company, it's not even a registered company
- It is just one man and his very amateurish website
- He has no money, no ship, no crew, no relevant experience
- There is absolutely no chance this could ever possibly turn into an operating ferry company taking you across the North Sea
At the moment he is not taking money off people. So it doesn't, at least not yet, seem to be fraud. Most people dismiss him as a fantasist. But he is causing damage by making a lot of people think there will be a ferry service to Denmark next year. But there won't be.

Ok....hmmm... So, I guess we'll need to blend a cycling holiday and a car based holiday together. Thanks for group knowledge. See you en route maybe with the tandems on the roof.

Take them by plane. Use BA - they accept bikes up to 1.9m in length in a bike bag which should cover most tandems with the front wheel out - get a note from Customer Services beforehand to say its OK (the check in desk staff often panic when they see the unexpected) and off you go. Its what we did before empty nest with the family and two tandems and its the only way you can tandem tour beyond the easy reach of ferries, trains and driving.
Alternatively there is a night train from Amsterdam to Copenhagen - leaves around 19:00 arrives around 10:00 and Amsterdam is an easy ferry and ride or train from the UK. You need to pre-book bikes on the train.
Good luck and enjoy.
