Tubus Ti racks

Post by foxyrider »

The UK Tubus distributor Lyon has issued this message

"We have recently been informed by Tubus that unfortunately they are unable to supply us with any Titanium Racks until at least February 2016. This is due to a supply issue with the titanium tubing. Please accept our apologies for any inconveniences caused."

:(

Bit of a bummer!
Convention? what's that then?

It'll be the increased production of arms sucking it all up.

Is this ti rack shortage any sort of problem?

What's the advantage, if any, other than a bit of weight, of a TI rack?

Well, Mr P has said he is increasing Russia's nuke arsenal by 40 heads in response to Mr O's moving of a fair wad of war-toys to Europe. And I bet those use a wad of Ti. And if he decides it's time for more subs, then that'd be a huge chunk of the stuff. IIRC they made several with Ti hulls.

Then there's Mr Kim, Mr Li, Mr Rouhani, Mr etc., and of course, Mr Cameron.

Lack of corrosion without the weight of stainless and better strength and damage resistance than aluminium - apart from price whats not to like?

It's not a prioblem per se unless you were hoping to purchase one :(

I've seen quite a few over the years, have had one go myself - even my Tubus Logo is suffering from some corrosion and its only 11 years old  After 5 years my Ti Carry still looks almost like new apart from a bit of bag 'polish'.

Yes, my Tubus cargo wore away due a mixture of abrasion against a shed wall and then corrosion. Literally wore into a hole on the 'elbow'. I now have a stainless steel tubus fly which is better.

Maybe it is due to Mr Wiggins custom Ti bars on his Hour Record bike?
