My first Sportive ... helmet standards.

Post by landsurfer »

I have my first sportive on the 31st May, the Arrow ....Helmet standards are SNELL ( to which SNELL standard ? there's hundreds ) or ANSI Z90/4 ... As previously posted on the CTC forum the American Snell standard is not applicable in the UK and the ANSI standard has been superseded. ... What do others use if they ride Sportive's ? Mines EN 1078...

The officials won't bother you with checking for standards as long as you're actually wearing a cycle helmet.

Snell is applicable but hard to find.

They probably won't check beyond it looking like a helmet unless you crash and try to claim it's their fault: after all, why would they exclude the most common helmet standard?
