yes swans are not critters I want to cross - too big and that beak keep out of the way of.

what on earth was it doing wandering around so much, never seen that before.

The whole 'swans can break a man's arm with a flap of their wings' thing was certainly at the forefront of my mind.

There was a pair, then family, of swans I encountered several times a week on my commute until recently. My first encounter saw one sat at the side of the path and the other in the middle of the path so a 5 minute stalemate happened. Other encounters delayed me but a work colleague on foot met them and had to be 'rescued' by another cyclist who diverted the swans' attention.
