What do you take as your campsite shoe?

The same Shimano sandals that I wear while riding the bike.

Cool/cold season: boots of some description. Love my boots. Summer: Crocs or rafters (slop/sandal)...hc

Flip flops; light, airy and cheap. But I tend to camp in southern europe in summer.

Deck shoes, or if I need something really light, the gruppy sandal type shoes used when sailing laser yachts or surfing.

Lightweight sandals or deck shoes, they take hardly any space in the bag. The moulded foam type are great - light, waterproof and cheap!

After a day riding i'm glad to have an alternative to my cycling shoes for the off bike activities although i might go shoeless on nice grassy/sandy campsites! :D
Convention? what's that then?

I just wear sandals on flat pedals.....saves carrying extra footwear.

Flipflops. Nice to air the feet out in the evening and I can wear them in the shower on dodgy campsites. I tried Crocs and hated them. Left them in a rubbish bin somewhere in Germany.

Flip flops too. 70p for a deluxe pair in Tanzania, 50p in Mali! Otherwise cycling sandals and shoes. Flip flops weigh nowt!

The theory is simple: a) cycling is inherently fun, and b) the less weight you carry, the more fun it is.

Cycle in stiff MTB shoes with cleats so like something else. Very light fell running shoes mean I have some thing for going up mountains in. Happy to carry them to have a spare pair of shoes to reduce chance of getting main pair wet when hill going. If not hills then Crocs copies as they are even lighter and pink.
