Reivers coast to coast on skinny tires?

Post by shane »

So, after C2C USA, C2C southern Africa its now time for a real challenge.

C2C in Northern England in November on my Brompton

It looks like its probably handy to stay on the main road near Keilder to avoid the worst of the gravel and tracks. Are there another other spots where it will be handy to take a small detour to stay on paved roads/good tracks.

Thanks

It's hedge cutting time so take plenty patches with you.

A lot of the lanes in Northumberland are in a really parlous state, so I wouldn't fret too much more about the gravel tracks.

Have fun!

There's a decent tea room in Falstone. And if you're going west-east, don't forget to look back on the climb up towards Bewcastle, as there are cracking views back over the Lakes and the Solway Firth.

And watch out for the coos ;)

Gateshead-Keswick-Gateshead in 6 days. It was a lovely if slightly damp ride :)

Wouldn't recommend cycling the East pennines(Kirkby Stephen to Consett) south to north on a 2spd though :)

Is that a Radical Design Cyclone trailer in your picture?

I thought the "Brompton model" (the Chubby) is available with a black bag only. Is it not a Chubby?

Gateshead to Hexham along the Tyne, crossed over to Kielder then followed bits of the Rievers to Keswick. Did bits of the C2C between Keswick and Penrith then just followed B roads to Kirkby stephen-Brough-middleton on tees-stanhope-consett then downhill back to Gateshead :)

Nice write-up of an interesting trip!
Cheers Shane. Can't blame you for preferring cycling in The Netherlands.
