Trains in Europe

Post by tucker »

Can you advise me on how to get from Amsterdam to Hamburg by train with the bike, Ive looked online and seem to be going round in circles.
We need to travel early afternoon near the start of next May.

Are you checking using the DB website and selecting the bicycle option? These flashy superfast trains tend to be less bike friendly than the local ones. Perhaps going via Weener? (border town with a train station picked at random.

Actually Leer (in germany) has more potential because its the terminus of a cross border line from groningen.

I'd try uk.voyage.sncf.com
and you can ring them too, which makes life easier. 0844 848 5848...apparently there's a change in osnabruk or hannover...
let us know how you get on!

The only nearly 100% reliable search method I have found is the DB Bahn website as mentioned above, using the further search options. Here's the link: http://reiseauskunft.bahn.de/bin/query2 ... ountry=GBR

You won't necessarily be able to book online though.
