You can go in but the web page says that access is through the top, suggesting that you would get wet. An alternative is Cuween Hill cairn, a bit closer to Finstown, and not so far from the road - less of a climb, too.

Access to the interior is by a low, narrow, entrance passage, which, being less than one metre high, requires the visitor to get down on their hands and knees and crawl.

Once inside, however, the main chamber is fairly spacious and the visitor can stand comfortably - although in pitch black darkness.


It's maintained by Historic Scotland so would be perfectly safe. I think I might prefer the rain, though :lol: .
